Just another job
« on: March 20, 2007, 11:33:47 PM »
I'm bored, so I decided to post some pics of a job we have in progress. We were contracted to do a repaint at a very old church in downtown StL. Plaster walls were failing, and needed some TLC and a fresh coat of paint. Here we go....

The walls are a mess...

The start of a float-o-rama....

More floating.....

After floating, patches are sanded with a fine screen on attached to a shop vac to keep the dust to a minimum...See the pipes above his head? I almost lost my a55 on figuring for the time to paint those, more on that later...

Patches are primed with Gardz...

Ready for some color...

I got suckered into rolling the purple satin finish, BM AquaPearl to be exact, and yes, its a 3/4" Wooster 50/50 as my weapon of choice...

Whatsa matta, you don't like purple???

That job looks like a painters nightmare.  ;D
Mighty strange colors for church aren't they.  I know they pick um we stick um.  ::)

LMBO prowall thats a nice little project hey don't feel bad I did a bedroom this weekend in pink,  some cute little girls are going to be living in that room so i'm even throwing in some stencil work for them ( girlfriends grandaughters)

Reminds me of a place i had to do when I first started woking for the company i'm with now, total rehad on an old  hotel and all lathe and plaster, we turned it into an apartment complex. We removed all the wall heaters and patched the walls also alot of other stuff was removed and old patchs reworked, I went thru alot of mud and bags and bags of fixall to get the walls even .

I'm going to get a can of that Preval and try it out, do you need to thin paint for that?

cool item, mjm - thanks for sharing that.

and Vin - all the acrylic latex paints I have tried in the Preval sprayer did need to be thinned - the really thick paints required heavy thinning.

nice work on the church, prowallguy!

I would think a HVLP would be ideal for something like those pipes. I can dial mine down to be like a spray can, or larger.

Love the purple.... ( but I'm from Vikes country..)
