Homemade paint stripper recipe
« on: May 14, 2008, 10:59:45 AM »
Would anyone have a paintstripper recipe? I had one but I can't find it, it was made with Lye cornstarch and water, I'm sure about the lye but not sure about the cornstarch.
Thanks for any help you could give me on this.

Hmm, sounds like a potentially dangerous little chemistry experiment.  ;)

Careful with Lye.  It burns skin, and if it splashes up into your eyes, it'll probably be the last thing you ever see.

Not that most store-bought chemical strippers are really any safer...

But I've never come across anyone using homemade stripper, so I can't help with your recipe.

I was also wondering why.
If you tell us what you want to strip, we might be able to suggest what works. But Lye - strong stuff that. Just read somewhere they might use lye to disolve bodies rather than cremation...
