any recommendations for dent- and ding-resistant cabinet paint?
« on: October 01, 2008, 09:20:57 PM »
Howdy, all.

I'm wondering if anyone might recommend a type and/or brand of paint for cabinet faces that you've seen holds up really well to some mild-to-moderate abuse.  That is, resists cracking at dings and dents, perhaps even helps to resist deforming of edges upon impact (that is, helps to keep dings and dents from forming at all).  Unfortunately, the location for these cabinets is open to a lot of users who're not going to take much care about the property, so toughness in the coating would really be desirable.

Thanks much for any guidance you can provide.

Best thing I could recommend would be two-part epoxy. I know that there are a lot of new cabinet products out there, but I've always used oil Impervo to roll and backbrush or converted lacquer for spraying with the HVLP...

Don't look for any coating to prevent dents or gouges from an impact. I'd suggest metal trim and corners.

Of course, there's always Rhino Hide... ;D
