What's everyone paying for 5's right now?
« on: October 26, 2008, 09:38:43 AM »
Since everything got more expensive (at least here in Sin-City) this past spring, I was wondering on average what people were paying for 5's in other places these days?

Our price seems to fluctuate a little, but we have a really good relationship with one of the Vista stores out here and they give us some pretty good deals. On average we're paying around $58.00 for 5's their upper end flat, and around $80.00 for 5's of eggshell and semi.

What are you guys paying?

Also a little trivia... The casino's out here only pay around $15.00 for 5's!!!  :o

Man, how nice would that be!!!

Uffda :D!

Our ACE 5's are $99.99, for the ACE-Royal Flat.
Eggshell, Satin & S/G 5's are from $104 to $115.

(We've been hit with TWO price increases this year... :P)

Even the NICE C2-One 5Gal. primer is $100!!

...at the prices Jake is getting, they might be making 35 cents on a 5G... :o!!

ACE has a 5G of "Contractor-grade" PVA retailing for $50...
I'd rather use skim milk... ;) !!

Hmmmm, people spend $$$$$ on furnishings...
BUT, Oh my God, that paint is $40/gaL!!
It's the most noticeable part of an interior!!

On exteriors I pay close to $250 per 5'er for Duration Satin.
On interiors a 5 of SW Promar 200 satin is about $96 and a 5 of Cashmere costs me $128. I don't use cheap paint but I also don't do large Commercial or New Construction.
I did do the walls of a large new addition of a Church at the first of the year but I talked them into using Cashmere and Interior Duration so they would have better scrub-ablity and so it wouldn't have to be painted again in a year.

Around $125 for Manor Hall 132 for Permycryl.  Less for commerical stuff or apartments which I rarely do anymore.   I did the upstairs of my house with the contractor stuff and it likes like crap in two years.  Lower level used the good stuff,  it was worth it.

We don't stock 5's of C2, but if we did, they'd average ~ $200  :D .

Then there's the Sikkens Log & Siding....
Now, they're @ ~ $370+ for a 5-er.
It'll be "heading North of that" next spring...Ouch :P!!!
(We're talking $400+... :'(...)

Tallpaul, you cant use "i dont use cheap paint" and sw 200 in the same sentence. $96!!!! for that huh? Ouch.

I'm looking at the same prices as TallPaul at Sherwin-Williams, including the Promar 200.  I might be wrong, but I thought Promar 200 was SW's higher contractor line whereas Promar 400 and 700 were their mid and low lines.  Don't quote me though.... :)

You are correct the 200 is the best of the ProMar line, with the XP and ProGreen being totally different animals.
And as of this morning I'm giving 86.10 a five for flat white, and SherLink tells me my Duration Home interior Matte is at 189.95 a five. I do know that Sherwins pricing is very regional and has a lot to do with your relationship/volume. You'd be amazed at what sending a holiday gift basket to a paint store will do for you   lol
We don't pick the color, we just put them on......

Yes thats right. My point only being for $20 there are better options. I dont like 200 mainly because it spatters badly. Glidden Washable Flat for example is killer in comparison, its my new favorite paint. Spreads like Duration Home and I think its tougher than Duration Home and is much more forgiving rolling it.
