Brush vs Spray on Exterior of house

Does anyone have opinions to share on having the exterior of our house painted using a sprayer rather than brushing?  Is this a bad idea?

I think it is a good idea to spray if it is aluminum siding or vinyl siding or some other type of substrate where you don't want visible brush marks.  For cedar or any type of wood siding, the paint needs to be pushed into the wood pores with a brush or roller for maximum penetration of the paint.  If you spray it, it just sits on top of the wood.  However, a lot of painters will spray and backroll or backbrush....in other words, the sprayer is just used to get the paint on quickly and they will still still brush and roll.
