Hey thanks rmichael and Jared. I go in @ 5:45 in the blessed a-m tomorrow (good thing I'm in the trades and know that 5 a.m. occurs twice in a 24-hour day). I should be home before noon, asking the wife and kids to do everything for me... ;)

Everyone I've talked to seems to know someone that has had the surgery, and everyone gives it the thumbs up...Until yesterday; We had some old friends over who we see once or twice a year, and they dove into horror story after horror story about this sister, that brother, the other one's uncle, SHEESH, nobody in that poor family had good results...

But then again, the family is a casework of hypochondriacs, I guess I would expect that...

Snip snip--

Left hand was done at 8:00 this morning. I mean DONE. Got there at 5:45, had me in a paper dress by 6:30, on the gurney at 7:30, sipping coffee at 8:00. The only reason for the hour between the prom dress and the knife was the repetitious questioning about meds, allergies, vices (my cigars), etc. Everyone who walked into the room had to ask the same questions, including demanding that I recite my first middle and last names and date of birth...

Two observations; 1) Apparently I talk in my sleep, and 2) Vicodin ROCKS!

Surgeon says I prattled on about Rush Limbaugh and Saddam Hussien, neither of which I ever painted for... :-\

Fingers are stiff, but they move. The bandage is almost as big as my head, comes off on Wednesday.

The anesthesiologist told me that the sedative has an amnesiac effect, and he was right--I remember none of it.

I'm typing this with one hand. The shift key is something I can do without...

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone, we'll do this again in two weeks...

too funny  ...

glad to hear all went well  ....

as for me, the visual of you in a 'paper dress' is going to haunt me for quite awhile ...  almost as long as that pic of you in your long hair rocker daze  ...spare a Vicodin?

Thanks Lynjo. I think I slept on top of it last night, it's pretty sore...

As far as guys wanting to see guys in dresses, well, I dunno, don't share the fascination, but hey, if I can make a buck or two... ;)

The holdup with the paintbrush is that under no circumstance am I to allow this thing to get wet. The MRSA scare lives large up here, and moisture is a chief component...Convenient excuse anyway... ;D

Past tense of course,

No fascination no worry's there, though a picture thread of Eric dancing in a paper dress would make a fun topic ;)

Well you folks had a second chance this morning...

This one involved a LOT more time waiting. Didn't get into the O-R until noon.

The result is kinda different too--A couple of my fingers haven't "woke up" yet and my pinky is too sore to move...I guess I was spoiled by the first surgery.

I'm suddenly left-handed, and I'm only ambidextrous with paintbrushes and spray guns...

Keep us informed Eric- hopefully this is just a little procedure tick, and you can get back to running around in a dress in no time !
