Nice Jan- had you done the previous work as well?

Best I can do is smeer pigment around!

No that was done by the former homeowners, it looked to me like someone took some decorative art classes and unleashed it on that bathroom.  ;)

Where do you live??? what state. I know a lot of people and we occasionally have large jobs that need people. We would always bring on painters for decorative stuff that know how to prep and paint (straight) before the person who took a week faux class and thinks they are a painter.

I am in central Florida, east coast (called the "Space Coast", it's where they launch the Space Shuttle etc.).

I would love to work some jobs with others, shoot me an email or PM, I'd like to know more about it if something comes up.

Brush, it is a little busy, but it was a restoration. Originally done in 1886. Found under 20 layers of paint in one of the VPs offices in DC.

PainterJan, in my previous carreer, I used to work some with the shuttle...kind of. Use to be part of the helicopter rescue crew in CA. when it would land at Edwards AFB. We would make sure the landing area was clear. LOL...as for rescue, well it looked good on paper but NASA said if it crashed there it would be pieces in a 5 mile area. Not much of a rescue.

So you chased birds away!  lol.

Cool stuff there. How did they "discover" the original work , and particularly strip off 20 layers without totally destroying it?

A "window" or what is called an exposure is made by stripping one coat at a time. Usually by conservators. The original finish is documented, traced, photo'd, and colors anylised, then it is prepped and primed and base coated. Stencils are made and so on and it is recreated.

Not really any birds there. Not much of anything!

Thanks Vin!

The one I'm doing now is pretty big, wraps around a pool area, will be tropical plants and such. I'm taking pix of course!

I LOVE doing kid's rooms, I'm doing one soon but it's a low budget deal so it's just a couple small vignettes. It's for a disabled child and the parents don't have much money, I'm doing it basically for portfolio material and gas money, and it will put a smile on a sick little boy's face.... :)

I want to see your GF's mural when it gets done, please!
