Hi again, just wondering how you painters prepare you trim for painting. The trim is semi-gloss, do you always just prime over it, or do you just sand it and paint it?

If the trim is clean & sound I generally scuff it up with a 220 grit sandpaper and recoat...That's not always the case, especially in households with kids or auto-mechanics  :o, and in those situations I'll wipe the trim down with WilBond or a detergent solution and then sand...

When painting over with acrylic latex..a clean dull surface with primer.

When painting over with a true waterborne like ultra ceramics, a clean dull surface and two coats of ultra. That's the only time I would skip the primer.
