Deck Paint Question
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:55:04 AM »
I needed repaint some interior wooden stairs on which I had used Duron's Porch and Floor Low Gloss Acrylic Enamel.  I've been using Duron [here in Virginia] for years with great success.  Duron doesn't seem to make this product any more so the folks at Duron sold me a Sherwin-Williams "replacement", I think it was Acrylic Tredplex or something like that.  I used a bit of it but coverage was about zero [I don't know if it wasn't mixed properly at the store or what - I spent 30 minutes stirring to no effect].  The manager was kind enough to refund the cost of the Sherwin-Williams product and recommended a replacement called H&C Shield Plus Ultra Concrete Stain Solid Color.  Coverage was great, but I don't know anything about this company nor what sort of durability this product has.  The Duron stuff was as tough as nails on a stairway that gets heavy teenage boy traffic.  What do you all think?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the Sherwin-Williams' acquisition of Duron ... seem to be hollowing out Duron.

Thanks,

Bill Cole

Bill,

Sounds like the first batch was mixed in the wrong base... it happens.  :-\
Look for a urethane fortified acrylic porch and floor paint, I have had good results with them. The urethane gives it more durability for wear.

Best Luck,
