Seal-Krete added to exterior paint?
« on: June 28, 2017, 05:06:02 PM »
Not a DIY question but hope that's okay.

I'm not able to paint my house of 30 years myself so am hiring a painter. They come highly rated but would like to hear advice about a paint additive. The painter recommends mixing original Seal-Krete with the paint for longer life. Since I wasn't familiar with it, the contract was written such that I can pass on the Seal-Krete but need to let them know soon.

Seal-Krete is cheaper than the paint so I assume using it would save them on the paint but they don't seem to care one way or the other.

Should I go with the Seal-Krete? What are the advantages or disadvantages? Best percentage?

If it makes a difference, the house is stucco and the paint will be Dunn Edwards SpartaShield in eggshell. They are also painting a cinder block wall around the back yard with the same paint. The location is the Phoenix AZ area so hot, low humidity with little rain.
