White trim/Stained doors
« on: July 08, 2017, 12:14:16 PM »
I'm trying to figure out what is standard practice. I just replaced all my interior doors with 6-panel oak, and I stained the doors and the jamb. I'm going to install craftsman style white trim that I ripped myself from MDF stock. When doing white trim with stained doors, what is typically done with the jamb? White or stained? I'm asking for 2 reasons:  1. What looks best? 2. Because the back side of the trim is flat, and because drywall and jamb aren't always flush, there are lots of gaps between the trim and the jamb. If the jamb is white I could easily caulk the gaps, but that's not the case. I could pound in the drywall, but if it looks best to paint the jamb, then it's not worth that hassle. Thoughts?
