cutting in ceilings

Hello,
My question is pretty basic.  What is the best way to cut in a ceiling?  Do you use an angel brush and pull it across the seam between the wall and ceiling or do you you paint up and down?  I have noticed that sometimes it is difficult to paint that edge without getting the paint on the ceiling.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
The most common way to "cut in" a wall is to hand cut the line. Establish the line by "edging" ( turn the brush edgewise)the brush and pulling a paint line at the seam. Pull the line a little short ( of the ceiling ) on the first coat and fine tune it on the second.
You can use an (angled ) sash brush if you find it easier to control. Pulling straight lines takes practice and a quality brush is very important.

Hope this helps
