Did you know that the colors you use to paint your house can have a big impact on it's value? That's right. And I'm not talking about a few hundred dollars either. I'm talking $1,000s.
The real estate listing giant Zillow.com released a report recently about which paint colors can increase a homes value, and which paint colors can also decrease it! They conducted research on over 32,000 homes that sold recently and compared their selling prices with the colors used in each room. And the results will surprise you!
Did you now that homes with exteriors painted a shade of brown sold for $1,970 less than comparable homes? But homes with exteriors painted a shade of grey/brown sold for $1,526 more?
Even something as simple as the color of a front door can make a big difference. Their research found that homes with front doors painted either navy blue, dark grey, or charcoal sold for $1,514 MORE than comparable homes! It doesn't cost THAT much to paint a door. Who would have ever thought that $25 of paint could increase a home's value by $1,514?! But that's what their research shows.
And you wouldn't believe the swing in price a color made just by painting the walls of a plain white bathroom.
