Thanks for your reply. I have eggshell on the walls and a "matte" on the ceiling. The "flat" that I referred to is a primer. I live in Jordan and flat is not available here. I often mistakenly interchange the words and the guys at the paint store always look at me funny when I do...as they have never heard of flat. I panicked about the semi gloss and went ahead and got some liquid deglosser and scrubbed above and below the crown with a toothbrush. I did do a few test spots first to see if (1) if the line would show through two coats of 'color' (2) to try Kilz Original primer to see if the paint would bond to that (3) how difficult and messy the deglosser would be. If the lines were small, the two coats covered it okay, but on the wider lines it didn't. The Kilz didn't do anything...maybe their bonding primer would have, but I had the Original on hand. The deglosser was a task especially in the two rooms I had already primed but in the other rooms, it was easier. I'm almost done with the deglossing and will get to the first coat of finish day after tomorrow. Thanks again for your reply.
