Title: Roller marks with eggshell paint
Post by: Newhomeowner31763 on April 24, 2013, 07:22:08 PM
Please advise.  We are currently at the end of building our new home.  As we are going through the final walkthroughs we realized many of the walls have very obvious roller marks.  We have mentioned this to our contractor.  He tells us we are being too critical that we should have used flat paint.   This home is a $300k+ home.  Is it reasonable to expect few roller marks.  We see them in almost every room.  Very very obvious in the foyer.  Also we have several beautiful columns.  They are painted with semi gloss and look extremely " bumpy" like dirt is under the paint.  Is this a common problem?

Thanks in advance

The level of finish (smoothness) is always a topic of concern with anyone I do work for.  Some people can't see it but the ones who do let it keep them up at night... ;D

may be it is beacause your roller might have dried out or it may be middle level quality. to avoid it better use brush or spray painting method. it does not givr any scar. to know some basics about house painting you can follow the following link http://www.1877painters.com/blog/House+painting+tips+for+a+beginner

I think spray paint and brush is a good idea instead of using roller, because roller may be dried but it brush not.
